~ Dedicated to H.D.G. A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada and H.G. Gauranga Sundar Das Gurudev
The so-called humans in the modern age are involved in just eating, sleeping, mating and defending. Isn't that similar to what animals are engaged in? Srila Prabhupada calls it a 'cats and dogs civilization' as there is no difference left between the two.
As soon as we are out of our mother's womb, we are surrounded by material atmosphere which gradually takes us to working like hogs. We are moulded in a way that we start believing if i don't work then i would die but actually it is not so. We work for 6-8 hours like a hog just for some food. Srila Prabhupada gives the example of an elephant - the elephant eats much more than me or you would eat but we work so hard for it. Is it that Krishna will supply the food to the elephant but not to us? If we engage in His service. In one sense, it is good to ask your necessities to God atleast one will have the conception of God but the devotees think why to bother Krishna, already He is supplying us food then why should we go infront of Him and again and again complaint. We all are part and parcels of Krishna, He loves us more than we love Him.
H.G. Gauranga Sundar Das Gurudev once told the example of a hunter who used to kill the birds and other animals partially then would enjoy looking at them suffering. Narada Muni saw the hunter and the Devotee of The Lord being highly compassionate, asked him why is he hunting the birds partially just kill them at once. The hunter told that his father has taught him to do like this only. Narada Muni further asked him the reason of doing so, the hunter replied that he was engaged in this business in order to earn money so that he can have food. Narada told him that if he chants Krishna's name then there is no need to do anything like this to earn the daily livelihood. The hunter got convinced and out of the village under a tree he sat and started chanting. Now when anyone would pass by, they thought to donate something to the pious person. Many people left a fruit or so. After sometime he saw that so much food is collected and he is happily chanting the Lord's name. He later thought, Narada Muni said your food will be arranged and taken care of by The Lord and he could practically see it that he has received so much food that he cannot even finish in a week. Likewise, all our necessities and perplexities will be taken care of by The Supreme Lord if we surrender to Him. Being influenced by the material modes of nature we are often doubtful about the Lord's existence but we must understand that Krishna is sitting in our heart and guiding all the living entities.
It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kuntī, are made possible by birth in
this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving father. (Bhagavad-gītā 14.4, Translation)
