In the rich streets and cities, you will find every man, now and then claims himself to be the God. But is he really God? Who is God? How to understand this?
Srila Parasara Muni, the father of Srila Vedvyas Muni, confirms in Viṣṇu Purāṇa 6.5.47:
aiśvaryasya samagrasya vīryasya yaśasaḥ śriyaḥ
jñānavairāgyayoś caiva ṣaṇṇāṃ bhaga itīraṇā
The six glorious opulences namely wealth, strength, fame, beauty, knowledge and renunciation, all in fullness (unlimited) measure are designated by the word 'Bhaga'.
Bhaga. Bhaga means opulence. Just like we sometimes speak "bhagavān." That comes from this word bhaga. Similarly, bhagavān. Bhagavān means the owner of all opulences. That is called bhagavān. There are now, nowadays, so many bhagavāns, but they are not owner of all opulences. Maybe partly. But God means, bhagavān means, samagrasya. Samagra means complete. One rich man can claim that "I am owner of so many crores." Another can claim, "No, I have got one or two more crores more than you." Others may say... So on, so on, so on, go on. But nobody can claim that "I am the owner of all opulences." (SB 1.2.6 lec, Nov. 11, 1973, Delhi).
One by one if we analyze these criteria, we can see Lord Kṛṣṇa appearing 5000 years ago to be only categorized as the “God”. Moreover, He Himself declares in the Bhagavad-gita, "I am the supreme enjoyer.” BG 5.29. Supreme enjoyer means the enjoyer of all six opulences in cent percent.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 3.24.32:
tvāṁ sūribhis tattva-bubhutsayāddhā
sadābhivādārhaṇa-pāda-pīṭham
aiśvarya-vairāgya-yaśo-’vabodha-
vīrya-śriyā pūrtam ahaṁ prapadye
TRANSLATION:
My dear Lord, Your lotus feet are the reservoir that always deserves to receive worshipful homage from all great sages eager to understand the Absolute Truth. You are full in opulence, renunciation, transcendental fame, knowledge, strength and beauty, and therefore I surrender myself unto Your lotus feet.
1)Wealth: When He(Kṛṣṇa) was present, He showed His riches. Nārada Muni wanted to see how Kṛṣṇa is managing His sixteen thousand wives, 16,108 wives. So when Nārada Muni came, he entered each and every palace. There were 16,108 palaces, all marble palaces, bedecked with jewels. There was no need of electricity or light at night, all the palaces were so bedecked with jewels. And the furnitures were made of ivory and gold. Opulences. The gardens were full of pārijāta trees. And, not only that = Nārada Muni saw that Kṛṣṇa was present with each and every wife and He's doing..., He was doing different types of business also. Somewhere He was sitting with His wife, children. Some..., somewhere marriage ceremony was going on of His children. Somebody... So many, all. Not one kind of engagement.
So this is called opulence, riches. Not that possessing a few tolās of gold, one becomes God. No. ( Bhagavad-gita lec, Jan. 13, 1973, Bombay)
Can one imagine the amount of wealth required to build and maintain jeweled palaces along with 16,108 wives! Kṛṣṇa can, because He is the creator of wealth. Proprietor of the Universe. He says in Bhagavad-gita, I'm the origin of all creation. ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate (BG 10.8). Goddess of Fortune, Laxmidevi is the wife of Narayana.
Therefore, none other than Kṛṣṇa possess such opulences as Kṛṣṇa.
2)Strength: When Kṛṣṇa was merely 3 months old, He killed the demon Putana, when He was 7 years old, He displayed His unlimited strength by lifting the Govardhana Hill on His pinky finger of His left hand in the heavy torrents of rain for 7 days and 7 nights continously, defeating the Law of Gravity. Who else than Kṛṣṇa has the power to defeat the Gravity? When Kṛṣṇa was in His kaumara age, that is not under 5 years, He killed the demon Agasura by entering into his mouth. During Pralambhasura killing pastime, Kṛṣṇa saved all His cowherd boy friends by swallowing the forest fire in His mouth with no harm within at all. These are all Vṛndāvana pastimes when Kṛṣṇa was no more than 10 yrs old. Who else than “God” can have such strength at such a small age?
One can claim himself to be the strongest, but it is not possible for us to lift even a lighest table on our strongest finger or one hand for more than 10 minutes. Just at the sight of snake, we gets fearful of death!
Therefore, Kṛṣṇa's strength is immeasurable!
3)Fame: Kṛṣṇa spoke this Bhagavad-gītā five thousand years ago, but still it is adored all over the world. Not only in India, but all over the world. Bhagavad-gītā is known in any country, irrespective of religion or faith. Everyone, any intelligent man, any scholar, any philosopher reads Bhagavad-gītā. That means Kṛṣṇa is so famous. Everyone knows. ( Bhagavad-gita lec, Jan. 13, 1973, Bombay)
So this is Kṛṣṇa's fame. Every child knows who is Kṛṣṇa even though He appeared 5000 Years ago, He is known to all. How Kṛṣṇa looks and how He holds His flute, everything in detail, He is so famous amongst all!
You cannot find in the history of the world, five thousand years ago, who appeared and is still famous. You don't find. There is not a single instance within the human history. But Kṛṣṇa, He appeared 5000 years ago, during the Battle of Kurukṣetra, before that, and still He's famous. Not only famous in India, but He's famous all over the world. This is Kṛṣṇa's fame.
One can easily claim his fame over any particular region, but only Kṛṣṇa can claim His fame over entire creation. When Kṛṣṇa was residing in Dwarka, Lord Brahma came to visit His lotus-petal eyed Lord, Sri Kṛṣṇa. So the doorkeeper asked him, “Kindly tell me, you're which Brahma?” Brahma who is the greatest living entity in the universe was in shock when asked this. During his meeting with the Lord Kṛṣṇa, Brahma asked the Lord if there are other Brahmas. And when Kṛṣṇa asked the four-headed Brahma to turn around, there were millions and zillions of Brahmas of all the universes, some 10 headed, some thousand headed and so on had came to visit Kṛṣṇa. He is so famous.
Even before His birth, all the demigods of heaven, used to visit Mother Devaki very oftenly and offer their prayers to Lord Kṛṣṇa in the womb of Devaki. So, Kṛṣṇa was famous even before His birth!
4)Beauty: Sarva Akarshati iti Kṛṣṇa! The one who attracts all is Kṛṣṇa, the very meaning of the word Kṛṣṇa is “all attractive”. God means He is attractive, otherwise how can He be God if He cannot attract everyone? When Kṛṣṇa appeared in Bhaumya Vrindavan 5000 years ago, all 350 million+ gopis were attracted towards Him. Not only gopis, but all the cows, calves, parrots, peacocks, birds, swans, trees and everything that was present. He is so attractive. Then when He grew up, He married to 16,108 wives and all were happy with Kṛṣṇa. Who else than God can possess such a wonderful and outstanding beauty to attract all the movable and immovable entities ?
It is mentioned in the Kṛṣṇa: The Supreme Personality of Godhead book that, when Kṛṣṇa used to walk around the forests of Vrindavana, all the trees bent themselves and were offering their fruits and flowers at Kṛṣṇa's Lotus Feet. He is so lovable.
One can claim himself to be the most beautiful, but even the beauty of Ms.India or Ms. World will fade after sometime. They will get old. But Kṛṣṇa, He is ever youthful.
It is said that even the wives of denizens used to see Kṛṣṇa, they gets so attracted that they starts running towards Him forgetting their own husbands. Kṛṣṇa is so attractive.
Cupid is considered as the most attractive but even Cupid fell in love with Kṛṣṇa when Kṛṣṇa looked Him with His side-long glance! It is mentioned in Bs 5.34, kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobhaṁ. Beauty of the thousands of Cupids fade in front of Kṛṣṇa.
Prabhupāda: He is so beautiful. (laughter) Kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobhaṁ. And calling us, by playing on His flute, nice flute. When He was playing His flute, all the gopīs, they would give up all their family duties, everything, and go off to Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa. Their fathers, their brothers, their husbands, who will call them, "Where you are going? It is dead of night!" "No, we are going to Kṛṣṇa.” (Bs 5.34 lec,San Francisco, September 13, 1968)
5)Knowledge: Kṛṣṇa gave the knowledge of Bhagavad-gita 5000 years ago. Which book possess such wisdom as Bhagavad-gita? It is the basis of spirituality and a complete science. No other science is greater than Bhagavad-gita, it has the science of who we are, who Kṛṣṇa is, what is our relationship with Kṛṣṇa, how to develop that relationship, knowledge of the material world, time, nature of the spiritual world, Goloka Vṛndāvana, eternity, modes of nature etc. everything is contained in Bhagavad-gita. The knowledge of Bhagavad-gita surpasses all knowledge of other religion, it's so potent. Bhagavad-gita is also known as the “Song of God”, and this is why it is names as BHAGAVAD-GITA and not Kṛṣṇa-Gita. Why it wasn't named as Kṛṣṇa Gita? So that people could understand that there is only one God, and that is Kṛṣṇa and He has emanated such wisdom from His lotus mouth to take the conditioned souls back to home, back to Godhead.
6)Renunciation: Anyone in the material world who is famous or have some opulence, at once gets false ego. But Kṛṣṇa, despite of having all the opulences in full, He is simultaneously renounced. At the age of 11, when His uncle Akrur Maharaj, the great devotee of the Lord, came to take Him back to Mathura, He at once left all the gopis and went to Mathura. Another instance, when the time was near for Him to leave the planet, He saw all His sons and grandsons dying on the battlefield with zero tears in His eyes. He was having zero attachment.
The most beautiful girls of the kingdom were His wives in Dwarka, 16,108 in number and yet He didn't have any physical relation with any of the queen. Who else than Kṛṣṇa can show such great renunciation?
Nowadays, people falsely claim themselves to be God and cheat people, but in their mind only lusty desires you'll find. Possesser of great wealth will look at his bank account even on his death bed. We are so attached with our temporary possessions. And Kṛṣṇa, being the Original Propeitor of All, is detached simultaneously.
So this is God. God cannot be manufactured. God is God either in the lap of the mother or in His full grown feature, is God. We cannot become God by some mysticism, or practicing astanga yoga for a few thousands of years. What kind of practice do you expect from a 3 months old kid? Kṛṣṇa killed many demons in the lap of His mother Yasoda! Kṛṣṇa is ever-expanding and His qualities are also ever-expanding, unlimited. The best of the yogi or a demigod cannot expand himself more than 8 times. But Kṛṣṇa during “Brahma stealing cows” pastime expanded Himself into all the cows and calves of Vrindavana, and also into all His cowherd boy friends. During Dwarka Lila, He expanded Himself into 16,108 times for all the queens. This is God or Kṛṣṇa. Nobody other than Kṛṣṇa can claim that He possess all the riches, aiśvarya in cent percent.
Scripture describes about another 4 markers for God as follows: (1) He will be ever youthful. (2) He will have auspicious signs on His Hands and Legs by birth. (3) His Hands will be of knee-length. (4) His appearance will be mentioned in the scriptures.
Someone who possesses all the 4 markers at once can be considered as God.
On the battlefield of Kurukṣetra war, Kṛṣṇa was not less than 85 years old, still He was looking as young as 25 yrs old boy, even younger than Arjuna. Kṛṣṇa possessed all the auspicious signs, more than 15 in number since His birth. His hands were coming down to His knees whenever He used to stand. And at last, all scriptures says about Kṛṣṇa!
Isvara Parama Kṛṣṇa ( Bs 5.1), You're the primeval Lord. mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat ( BG 7.7), There is no truth superior to me. Kṛṣṇas tu Bhagavān svayam ( SB 1.3.28), Lord Kṛṣṇa is the original Personality of Godhead". Moreover, in the Muslim scripture, “ Hidden treasures of Al Quran”, Lord is mentioned as bluish in color resting on the large hooded servant and the similar description of Lord Vishnu or Kṛṣṇa we can find in our Vedic literatures.
So the final conclusion is, Kṛṣṇa who is the son of Nanda Mahārāja and Mother Yasodā, is the Original Supreme Personality of Godhead and all other creations emanates from Him, but He is the Original God.
